Classes: Family Training on AD/HD

WHAT IS PARENT TO
PARENT: FAMILY TRAINING ON AD/HD
Parent to Parent: Family Training on AD/HD is a multi-session
interactive and educational program for adults and parents of children and
adolescents with AD/HD.
The
class series provides scientifically researched, evidence-based educational
information and support for families who are dealing with AD/HD and learning to
navigate the challenges of AD/HD. Teachers and professionals are also welcome.
This unique program includes a comprehensive resource
handbook as part of the seven, two hour interactive sessions that cover the following
topics:
1. Overview of AD/HD
2. From Assessment to Treatment
3. The Impact of AD/HD on the Family
& Creating Positive Behavior Intervention Plans
4. Developing Parenting Strategies and Interventions
that Strengthen Family Relationships
5. What Do I Do When My Child is Having
Difficulty at School?
6. Building an Education Team That
Works
7. AD/HD Across the Life span: Teens
and Adults with AD/HD
The cost of the
class series is $50.00 per single/couple for CHADD members and $60.00 for
non CHADD members

Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) at Home
Featuring
Suzy Johns & Jacquelin Patrick
This presentation will provide parents with strategies
to proactively address problem behaviors at home. The importance of building relationships
within a positive home environment will be discussed. In addition, parents will be provided with
examples of how to create, teach and reinforce the expectations of the home.

A free, single session
class on AD/HD that addresses many of the issues that concern people when they
find that they, or their child has
AD/HD. It is held in the

1-2-3 Magic
A four session class introducing the concepts on handling misbehavior presented in Thomas Phelan’s book 1-2-3 Magic. This course is not specific to ADHD, but provides some excellent tools for working with AD/HD children, particularly at the elementary school level. Classes run the same day of the week for four weeks from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. There is a $20 charge for the series, to cover the cost of the materials and the book. Teachers can earn recertification hours. Register with Ed at 452-4589.
