October 9, 2008

Topic for Wednesday October 9, 2008:

How parents can help their children succeed in school!

Presented by Nancy Thorup

Tell your neighbors, friends or others to come join us and let them have fun learning about ADHD.

Nancy Thorup has been tutoring kids with learning disabilities, ADHD, and head injury for over 22 years. She worked for Dr. David Nilsson and Dr. Sam Goldstein from 1985-1992 at the Neurology Learning and Behavioral Center. She now has her own business (Thorup Tutoring Company) and a staff of 25 tutors. They tutor at an office in Holladay (4527 south 2300 east #106, Holliday, UT. 84117 phone #801-272-7323).

Thorup tutoring tutors kids from pre-school through college in all academic areas, including ACT/SAT prep, study skills, and foreign language. She created video/dvd’s in conglomeration with American Telecast called “Where There’s a Will There’s an `A”. Marie Osmond and Hugh Downs endorsed the product. It was sold via infomercial. Marie and Nancy also sold video/DVD’s on QVC.

Thorup Tutoring uses the strategies taught on the videos plus new/improved strategies. The presentation will focus on how parents can help their children succeed in school (organizational skills, completing/ turning in homework, working with a teacher, quick ideas for math/reading/ writing). She will be having a question and answer presentation at the end of her discussion.

This will be an excellent meeting for parents and caregivers of children with special needs.
