Who should come to this training? Parents, individuals with disabilities, professionals, community members

Training topics include information to help you represent your questions and concerns to legislative policymakers about issues, services, agencies, and programs that provide the services you need. There will be opportunities to discuss:

o Health – Early Intervention, Children with Special Health Care Needs, Medicaid
o Services for People with Disabilities
o Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Dr. Tim Chambless, Assistant Professor of Political Science, University of Utah will present in the afternoon. Representatives from state agencies will be in attendance.

P2P: Parent to Parent Online Training on AD/HD starting 9/15!

Parent to Parent: A Family Training Program on AD/HD is a state of the art educational program specifically designed for parents, by parents. The training is now available as an online class. You can sit in the comfort of your home, watch the presentation on your computer while interacting with the presenter by phone. This seven session class includes a state of the art curriculum with the training provided by an experienced and certified Parent to Parent Teacher. Each of the two hour sessions covers an area of information absolutely essential to the successful management of AD/HD. And best of all the training is from a parent’s perspective, by people who have faced the same struggles, questions and challenges you do. Each family participating will receive a Parent to Parent Manual full of background material, resources and articles to supplement what you are learning through the class.

Fact vs. Myth on AD/HD

A free, single session class on AD/HD that addresses many of the issues that concern people when they find that they, or their child  has AD/HD. It is held in the Education Center at the McKay Dee Hospital (South end of the first floor) Room 1 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The classes are taught by Community Professionals.

This class is taught at McKay-Dee Hospital because of its central location, but it has no affiliation with any particular provider or insurance.

The class is held on the 3rd Thursday of every other month (odd numbered months).

1-2-3 Magic

What:  This course is designed to help parents:

  • Learn effective methods for managing children’s behavior
  • Control obnoxious behavior
  • Stop bad behavior
  • Encourage good behavior
  • Strengthen your relationship with your child

When:  Wednesday, September 9, 16, 23, & October 7, 2009:  6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Fall 2009: Starting Tuesday, September 22, then for seven weeks
